Don't Be Stupid – Why We Hate Correction (Proverbs 12) 🧠🚫
Body: Okay, don't get mad at me. I didn't write it. Solomon did.
Proverbs 12:1 says: "Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid."
That is the NIV translation, and it doesn't pull any punches. In active addiction, we were allergic to correction. If you told us to slow down, we sped up. If you told us we had a problem, we attacked you. We defended our "right" to be wrong until it almost killed us.
Today on Day 12, we are getting honest about why we hate advice—and why refusing to listen is the quickest way to stay stuck.
In this video, we’re breaking down: ✅ The difference between "Knowledge" and "Stupidity" (it's about the ego). ✅ Words like Swords: Are you using your mouth to heal people or stab them? (v. 18). ✅ The Anxiety Cure: How a kind word can lift the heaviest weight (v. 25).
If you are ready to drop the ego and actually learn something, this one is for you.

Gold Rings & Muddy Snouts – Stop Decorating the Mess 🐷💍
Solomon didn't hold back in Proverbs 11. He gave us one of the wildest images in the Bible:
"Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion." (Prov 11:22)
Let’s translate that to recovery language: You cannot dress up dysfunction.
In active addiction, we were experts at this. We’d get the fresh haircut, put on the nice clothes, and flash a smile (the gold ring), but inside, we were still living in the mud. We thought if we looked good on the outside, nobody would notice the chaos on the inside.
But here’s the reality check for Day 11: Putting jewelry on a pig doesn’t change the pig.
If you want real recovery, you have to stop focusing on the accessories and start dealing with the character. You have to clean up the inside.
In this video, we’re talking about: ✅ Why we love to "fake it till we make it" (and why it fails). ✅ The danger of having a "public self" and a "private self." ✅ How to trade the gold ring for real, gritty integrity.
Stop trying to impress people with your "gold ring." Let’s get real about the mud.

The Right To Remain Silent (But Do You Have The Ability?) (Proverbs 10)
"The more talk, the less truth." We used to use words as weapons or smoke screens. Today, we learn why silence is often the best legal defense. Welcome to Day 10 of "A Proverb A Day Keeps The Police Away."
In today’s breakdown of Proverbs 10:
Shifty Living: Why honesty is the best sleep aid (and the only cure for paranoia).
The Babbling Fool: Why over-explaining and gossiping destroys your peace.
The Blessing: The difference between the "high" of addiction (which brings sorrow) and the blessing of God (which brings peace).
The Bottom Line: If you are tired of the drama, try closing your mouth.

The Secret Trap – Why We Love The Forbidden (Proverbs 9) 🚫
Let’s be honest. We’ve all been there. We’ve all chased something just because it felt "off-limits."
Proverbs 9 talks about the woman named Folly who sits at the door and says, "Stolen water is sweet; food eaten in secret is delicious!" That is the lie of addiction. That is the lie that keeps us sick. It tells us the secret life is the good life—until the trap snaps shut.
Today on Day 9, we are exposing the trap. We’re talking about why the forbidden feels so good in the moment, but why it always leaves us empty in the end.
In this video, we’re breaking down:
✅ The lie that "secret" means "safe."
✅ Why we crave what destroys us.
✅ How to flip the script and find real satisfaction that doesn't hide in the dark.
Recovery is about bringing the secrets into the light. Because what you heal, you don’t have to hide.

🌪 Ever wonder why life hits harder after you start doing things right? This week, Chaplain Heidi sat with one of the rawest questions every one of us wrestles with in recovery, faith, and real life:
“I’m changing my life… I’m doing my best… so why do these things keep happening?”
Ecclesiastes 9:11–12 doesn’t sugarcoat the truth:
“The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong… sooner or later, bad luck hits us all.”
Heidi doesn’t dodge the hard stuff. She names the grief, the unfairness, the trauma, the “why me?” — and then she points us to a God who meets us right in the middle of it.
“God is most visible in those who've walked the hard paths.”“If you trust God, then live like you trust Him.”“He wants you to live fully now… not later in heaven.”“Don’t sit in misery. Celebrate this life and expect beautiful things.”
This message is for anyone who’s been crushed by life’s unfairness… anyone who’s tired of waiting for the breakthrough… anyone who’s wondering if God still sees them.
He does. And Heidi’s words this week are a reminder that faith isn’t pretending life is easy — it’s learning to live fully in the middle of everything you can’t control.

We chased this bag until we had nothing left. 📉🛑
In active addiction, I spent every waking hour chasing "The Bag." I risked my freedom, my family, and my life for a little plastic baggie that always—always—ended up empty.
We thought we were chasing wealth. We were actually chasing death.
Welcome to Day 8 of "A Proverb A Day Keeps The Police Away." Today, in Proverbs Chapter 8, Solomon tells us we have been hustling for the wrong currency.
In this breakdown:
1️⃣ The Crossroads: Wisdom stands at the intersection where you make your daily decisions. Are you listening to her, or the dealer?
2️⃣ Real Wealth: Verse 10 says, "Prefer my life-disciplines to chasing after money." Money without discipline just funds a faster relapse.
3️⃣ The Mic Drop: Verse 36 says, "All who hate me love death." If you are rejecting recovery, you are actively flirting with your own funeral.
Stop chasing the bag that kills you. Start chasing the truth that saves you.

We don’t "trip" into a relapse. We walk straight toward it.
We like to say it "just happened." But in Proverbs Chapter 7, Solomon tells a different story. He watches a guy he calls "The Simpleton" make a fatal mistake.
The guy didn't stumble.
He walked "near the corner." (He went to the old neighborhood).
He walked "in the twilight." (He isolated when he was tired or lonely).
He listened to the lie: "My husband is not at home." (He believed no one would know).
Welcome to Day 7 of "A Proverb A Day Keeps The Police Away." Today we are learning how to spot the setup before the trap snaps shut.
Solomon says if you follow this path, you are like an "ox to the slaughter." You don't even know your life is at stake.
Stop walking down the street that kills you. Change your route today.
